So many people self diagnose or "Dr. Google" what treatment they think they need when in reality its not suitable for their skin type or condition. Listening to your skin, exploring your skin being aware of triggers are all good signs to watch for, but bring your concerns to your trusted Medical Aesthetician or Physician and allow them to provide the best treatment plan. Here are some contraindications for microdermabrasion: skin diseases, disorders or irritations, Accutane, pregnancy, oral steroids, autoimmune diseases, blood thinners, Herpes Simplex, recent cosmetic surgery, inflammed Rosacea,or acne, sunburn, irritated skin, and photo-sensitizing medication. Microdermabrasion is also not recommended for couperous/sensitive skin like all levels of Rosacea or someone with a predisposition for pigment problems. Most clients will see and feel results after the first treatment BUT at least six to twelve treatments are best for optimal results with sessions booked 1-2 weeks apart.
