Lips xxx

Yes, the ones on your face but oddly enough often get confused with the labia minora and majora!! Two very different geographical locations my dears. Moving on, I love lipstick nearly started a line of glosses and lipsticks back in Los Angeles with a friend whom is also a genius beauty scientist extraordinaire... But decided to stick with hair care. Anyway, I'd like to share some Color Theory that I think is much needed in these suggestive times. Firstly, lips and cheeks should always coordinate. Secondly, beige and neutrals are not a one size fits all kinda shade; it must compliment your skintone ie: nationality. Just like all reds are not the same nor are beiges.

Lipstick completes the look, brings everything together. Always consider your eye colour, skin tone, natural lip shade and trends (if you're into that kinda thing). Darker shades will absorb light and make lips appear smaller while lighter shades make lips appear larger. Also consider age appropriateness.... NOT! That's exactly what you should not do, wear whatever feels good on you -that's the whole point in make up. Purpose of my blog is just ensure it compliments the skin color your born with. Other than that wear whatever the heck you feel, colors have a certain way of conveying emotion and memory or mood. I love me some deep black eggplant in the fall whilst my summers are spent in hot popcorn pink bubblegum. Just keep the gloss to minimum over lipsticks depending on their viscosity they can bleed into fine lines, too tacky and dust/hair get stuck to it and can even affect the lip color via oxidization.

Consider you skin tone first! Is this a maximum shade? Does the shade transition into an evening look or vice versa? How does the lip shade compliment your eye color? Do I have a similar shade? Is this a discontinued shade? These are my top questions that I ask myself while on the hunt for a new lipstick.

Lipsticks will only have two base shade: Red/Orange or Blue/Green find the most flattering shade with your skin tone.

*Here is a chart of skin tones*

Fair to Ivory Skin: pink undertones

Medium to Beige Skin: pink or yellow undertones

Olive Skin: gold/yellow undertones or orange/red undertones

Darker Skin: brown undertones further broken down into sub colors of: yellow/red/blue

Once your skin tone has been determined opt for complimentary colors that work within those shades. Be bold, be daring but most importantly be YOU! Happy hunting friends :)
